DR. HORMOZ SHARIAT

How did you get involved in missions?

From the moment I got saved from Islam and became a child of God, the Lord put a burden on my heart to reach out to Muslims and especially Iranian Muslims. The Lord told me even in 1980: “I am going to something special in Iran and I want you to be a part of it.” That is the reason I immediately started witnessing to Muslims as a student in Los Angeles.

Did you ever imagine you would be where you are today?

No. I had no idea that the Lord will get into media because I was a very shy person and an introvert engineer. I never thought that I will be a pastor let alone a TV personality.

What projects/objectives have you been working this year?

  • Establishing the worldwide media church called Church7
  • Planting and strengthening underground house churches in Iran
  • Choosing top leaders in Business and Media and church planting and mentoring them.

How can we pray for you?

Pray for our protection as we are in a severe spiritual warfare with the dark spirit of Islam. Here are his areas of attack

1 - Health – our staff and their families are constantly under attack with sickness.

2 - Threats – we constantly receive threats against our lives.

3 - Finances – the enemy is defeated when he confronts us directly. So he is after cutting our supply lines (finances). Our enemies try to discredit me (Hormoz) and our ministry with accusations and lies so that our donors will stop or reduce their financial support.

What practical needs do you currently have?

We need volunteers to help us in various aspects of TV production.

We need to tell our story to the churches and organizations I the west. Most do not know what the Lord is doing In the Middle East and especially Iran and even a fewer people are involved.

What does a day in your life look like?

9 am to 5 pm: meetings, teaching, leading, calling, and producing TV programs.

5 pm to 8 pm: answering emails, writing reports (like this one).

Tell us something interesting about you.

The biggest Mosque in a large city in Iran (Semnan) was built and dedicated to the service of Islam by my ancestors.

What’s your favorite Bible verse and why?

Jeremiah 49:38 – It is the future of Iran (Elam) which we are fast approaching.

Do you have any secret or hidden talents?

I play Setar (an Iranian string instrument)

Hobbies?

Soccer. Reading a good and challenging book. Writing

Hopes/dreams?

To see a young generation raised in Iran who are able to bring a spiritual and cultural revolution and help Jer 49:38 to come true.
